Upton Sinclair's 1928 documentary novel dramatizing the case of Sacco and Vanzetti, the Italian anarchists executed in 1927 after a trial widely condemned as unjust. Told partly through the eyes of Cornelia Thornwell, an elderly Boston Brahmin widow who abandons her privileged life to work alongside immigrant laborers and becomes drawn into the fight to save the two men, Boston is Sinclair's furious indictment of class prejudice, xenophobia, and the failures of the American justice system.
