Two carved lions, a lonely schoolgirl, and a dream of courage and friendship.
When Geraldine is sent away to school, the warmth of home is replaced by strict rules, misunderstandings and loneliness. Her imagination returns to a pair of magnificent carved wooden lions—and one extraordinary night, the brother lions rise into the air. Mrs. Molesworth’s tender fantasy understands childhood fears without talking down to young readers.
This illustrated edition preserves L. Leslie Brooke’s original artwork in a clean, reflowable EPUB suitable for phones, tablets and e-readers.
Read an excerpt
“I can remember things in my little girlhood more clearly than many in later years. This makes me hope that the story of some part of it may interest children of to-day, for I know I have not forgotten the feelings I had as a child. And after all, I believe that in a great many ways children are very like each other in their hearts and minds, even though their lives may seem very different and very far apart.”
