Description
A. E. W. Mason's classic tale of courage and redemption. When Harry Feversham resigns his commission on the eve of Britain's Sudan campaign, three friends and his own fiancée brand him a coward with the gift of white feathers. His quest to redeem his honor takes him in disguise across the desert to Wadi Halfa and Omdurman, through captivity and daring rescue, in one of the great adventure novels of the Victorian era.
Excerpt
Lieutenant Sutch was the first of General Feversham's guests to reach Broad Place. He arrived about five o'clock on an afternoon of sunshine in mid June... "How's the leg?" asked General Feversham, as he rose briskly from his chair. He was a small wiry man, and, in spite of his white hairs, alert. But the alertness was of the body...
"It gave me trouble during the winter," replied Sutch. "But that was to be expected."
